Purify your hearts NOW

I know it may sound like just pretty words or New Age "woo-woo" to tell people to purify their hearts. To open your heart and let God in. Like, what does that even mean? But it's so important to learn how to do this RIGHT NOW. Why? God wants to know your heart. We don't know how long we have, and we need to take these opportunities of sorrow to show what's inside our hearts to God. When life breaks our hearts open, it exposes the inner workings of our hearts for God to see. It's like our own resume--our curriculum vitae, if you will, of our capacity to Love. It's how God can assess how much and how deeply we have loved. The hard part is letting God peek inside when we are hurting. Our natural reaction is often to push away. We don't want to let him close and sometimes even begin to lose our faith in times of loss or grief. We question, "Why?". Well, technically, this is why. If you have suffered a lot in your life, one could argue that God loves you especially. Because he wants to keep looking into your heart and wants to be close to you. This isn't an easy thing to accept. Especially when we lose those we love. Our final judgment can come at any time, and we should be prepared. My hope is that you hurt. I hope you hurt because it means you have really loved. I hope that you are able to open up and let God in to peer into all the corners and cracks of your heart, leaving no dark spaces uncovered, and that all is visible. Let him see the vulnerability and pain--let him see the blood and the vessels and sinewy tissues inside. Let all be exposed. In this way, we purify our hearts.

For the first time, I intentionally opened my heart to God while in the midst of suffering and loss. These past several months have certainly been strange for me. There was a succession of deaths following my mother's recovery and part of me can't help but wonder if it's some sort of universal law of energy exchange where reality demanded a sacrifice after pulling her away from the precipice of death. Does this happen? I could definitely feel God's hand in my mother's miraculous healings, and I just wonder, since energy cannot be created or destroyed in this physical world, if it had to be borrowed. We can't take a patch away from the fabric of reality and leave a hole, nor can we sew fabric on top of the fabric. I hope this idea doesn't sound occultish or too "Dr. Quantum" lol. But the number of losses in the timeframe of the past few months is just highly improbable, statistically speaking.

I haven't gone into too many details about my mother's condition before, and I'm still not sure I want to at this time, but she has endured so much. Perhaps part of her being saved was a chance to truly purify her own heart, and mine, as this whole experience brought me back to my Catholic faith, and that had an impact on her, resurrecting her own faith as well. As long as there is breath in our lungs, there's still a chance.

Love and the Paranormal

What is love? Maybe love is God.

I've often paralleled the idea of proving the existence of God or the paranormal with the concept of the feeling of love.

Love is a socially acceptable ghost, in a way. How can you prove the existence of love? Unlike belief in God or ghosts, no one seems to doubt that the feeling of love exists. Yet, you can't really prove that it does. We believe in it.

Sure, one can examine the chemical reactions in the brain, and what happens biologically when one experiences the sensation of love. One can prove the psychological factors involved in why someone might "fall in love" with a particular kind of person.  But can you PROVE the feeling? Can you prove that it exists? How would we define the feeling?

What are the many ways to prove love? This doesn’t mean proving to someone else that you love them, but proving the feeling. Proving that the feelings exists.

What happens when you feel love? What do you do? What happens around you? Are there any ways of documenting it? Can you take a picture of it?

We are all very arrogant about tearing down each others’ ghosts--criticizing the beliefs of one another. Why are so many people skeptical when it comes to the spiritual and paranormal, yet are not skeptical of the existence of love? It is a subjective experience.  There is no evidence that it exists, but yet we don’t doubt the feeling of love. People don't seem to question the existence of radio waves and microwaves as they place their food in a "magical box" that cooks their food. Even though we cannot see them, we know they exist because they have a practical application.  There is scientific proof through an application that people can use.

Maybe our belief in love is due to a very orthodox form of mass hypnosis, known as "education". The concept has been ingrained in us and we accept it and believe in it.  IT‘S A SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE GHOST.  Our parents all talked about it and we were told that “love” is what put us here. Our parents “loved” each other and made us. God “loves” us and made us in his image. Our society talks about it all the time and no one finds it unusual, but yet ESP and spirits are “weird” and not normal.

Maybe we do not REALLY know what love IS. We obviously haven’t mastered it yet. We humans are not always very loving beings, are we? Perhaps we should focus on learning how to truly LOVE... and then maybe everything else will fall into place. Let's start with ourselves. Then maybe we'll find God.

"Love is qualified as an attribute of that force, power or influence known as God. Thus as man makes application of love in his daily experience, he finds God a personal God." --Edgar Cayce

We’re all a little damaged, aren’t we?

One of the life lessons I think I've always had trouble with was not letting a relationship consume me. Whenever I fell in love with someone, my dreams and aspirations would go on the back-burner. I think life attracts us to similar situations over and over again, like a magnet, until we learn the lesson that we are supposed to learn and grow as a soul. With some of us, the lesson lies in matters of the heart (or perhaps that's the avenue that is best to reach us through), and with others it might be getting along with certain personalities of co-workers and learning what it is that is blocking us from understanding one another.

I've realized that I seem to gravitate toward others who seem to be “damaged” in some way or another. These particular souls attract me over and over again, and I think that it’s my own shadow that I am  projecting onto others in an attempt to alleviate my own damages. (And by Shadow, I mean the archetype in Jungian psychology that represents all that is repressed, denied and undeveloped in our subconscious mind.)  Until I love myself as a complete individual, not needing completion from anyone or anything, I will probably still be attracted to the darkness in others until I fix the darkness in myself.  If I focus on the good in myself and in my life, maybe I will attract people with those qualities into my life instead of encountering doubt, fear and insecurity.

I have a feeling that my soul has been around for a long time, and I have an overwhelming feeling that this time around, I want to get it RIGHT, but maybe there is nothing to get “right”. Perhaps I need to stop dwelling on my old soul and why it is here and relish the fact that I AM young and alive. That my soul is fresh with opportunity, to learn new things, to love other people and to BE HERE NOW.

Souls have no age or gender. Energy cannot be quantified by a number, nor identified by a name. Energy has no timeline… it is eternal. WE are eternal.

I used to believe that everyone has one soul mate--a person whom they are destined to be with--but I have since reconsidered my theories regarding that concept. I think that we have MANY soul mates. Soul mates from past lives, soul mates from future lives, and many souls in this lifetime that teach us important lessons in our present physical lifetime. We may come in contact with these souls over and over again.
Every relationship is a soul-growth experience. In our physical existence, with a lifespan of 80 or 90 years if we’re lucky, are we really supposed to confine ourselves to one other soul? Are we SUPPOSED to be monogamous? We certainly aren’t penguins that mate for life. For the same reason pandas don’t mate in captivity and we don’t find our family members sexually desirable, if we spend 10, 20, 30 or more years with a significant other, don’t they just become family and not so desirable anymore? No one wants to die alone and lonely, so is it our fear of death that makes us want to find someone “permanent and stable”?

I think that we should not confine ourselves to one other, but try to love as many people as possible while we are here on this earth. We have the opportunity to learn a life lesson from every experience, and guess what? We’re writing the curriculum. Life does not throw lessons into our lap. We weave our own lessons to be learned through our own choices, and it is also our choice whether or not we actually learn anything from them.

Don’t ever be afraid of falling in love. It is wonderful. Just feel it. Let it flow through you and just let it happen. Even if it doesn’t work out or nothing comes of it, don’t deny yourself the feeling of falling in love. That’s why we are all here, really. To love one another. To love as many other souls as possible.
Love unabashedly.
Love recklessly, even.
It’s the most important thing we can share as human beings. Every time we fall in love, we learn something new about ourselves.

We should stop defining ourselves by our age, what we wear and what we look like. None of that matters. We should just learn how to BE HERE NOW. In the moment. That is all that matters. To feel the warmth of another person’s cheek pressed up against our own.
Don’t think about forever. Don’t dwell on the past or spend too much time contemplating the future. The present is so precious. Just be here now.
